Discrimination and Whistleblower Case Results and Settlements
Over the years, our attorneys have won or settled numerous cases related to employment discrimination and improper reprisals against whistleblowers. Here are three recent examples.
In 2016, The Employment Law Group® won a settlement of $34.7 million in the case of an oncology company whistleblower who exposed Medicare fraud. The U.S. Department of Justice announced the settlement, with more than $7 million awarded to The Employment Law Group®’s client.
In another whistleblower case in 2015, a client of The Employment Law Group® was awarded 20 percent of a $2.2 million settlement to compensate U.S. taxpayers. The whistleblower, a nurse with a background in hospice care, resigned her vice president position after questioning her company’s Medicare billing practices.
Also in 2015, a court awarded more than $800,000 to a former Marine Corps pilot who alleged discriminatory treatment and termination by his employer, Lockheed Martin Corp. The award provided compensation to The Employment Law Group®’s client for his financial losses resulting from the illegal retaliation against him.
